4.0 Convoy Rules
- 4.1 Before the convoy leaves
- Be one time. Remember that you and other convoy participants will still be traveling. Departure times are set for a reason.
Hold a driver's meeting to clarify the route, orient everyone and answer any questions.
Designate a lead car and a sweeper. The lead car should be the one who is more familiar with the route to the destination. The sweeper car (also familiar with the route to the destination) is the last car who makes sure that everyone in the convoy is ok. We do not leave ANYONE behind.
Know the cell number of the lead car and the sweeper, especially if you are not familiar with the destination.
Check all tires for punctures and if the pressure level is within acceptable parameters, including the spare tire. Same goes for oil and other car fluids.
Make sure you have an empty bladder and enough gas to reach your destination to avoid frequent stops.

- 4.2 During the convoy
- Open all head lights, fog lights and hazard signals. If making a turn, disengage the hazard signal as early as possible then make the appropriate turn signal. Engage the hazard signal after.
Always follow the lead car. No swerving and no overtaking.
Watch the car behind you. If it slows down, you slow down. It will cascade to the lead car.
Maintain 1.5-car distance at speeds of 20-30kph and 2.5-car distance at speeds of 60-80kph. Go faster then 80kph only when needed.
If non-convoy cars wants to cut-in, make it easier for them. Courtesy is good for everyone and there will be plenty of time to catch up to the rest of the group.
Disperse to 3 lanes, safely and only if possible, when approaching stop lights.
If a section of the convoy gets separated, the lead car should continue driving until a safe place is found to pull over and wait for the rest of the group to catch up.
If you are part of the convoy section that was separated, do not try to carelessly speed up to catch up with the rest of the group. They will be waiting for you as we do not leave ANYONE behind.
